José Santiago Garnelo y Alda (25 July 1866 – 28 October 1944) was a Spanish painter in the Naturalist style. He mostly did genre scenes, portraits and scenes from Classical history.

He was deputy director of the Prado Museum and director of the Spanish Academy in Rome. Among the many awards he has received are knighthood of the Order of Charles III (1892), commander of the Order of Alfonso XII (1902) and painter to the Crown, and officer of the Order of Leopold II of Belgium (1910). He also received the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour. He exhibited in numerous countries, including exhibitions in Chicago, Paris, London, Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid. Since 2006, part of his work has been on display at the Garnelo Museum in Montilla. His work is very extensive, including portraits such as Pepita Sevilla, at the Museum of Valencia; Gonzalo Bilbao, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville; and portraits of the Spanish royal family, including two of Alfonso XIII preserved at the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art and at the Palace of Aranjuez.
