José María Marqués y García (Tortosa, 1862-Barcelona, 1938). He studied drawing and painting in the workshop of his father, Manuel Marqués. He was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona. In 1882 he won a progress medal at the Villanueva i Geltrú Exhibition. His paintings were sold in New York, London, Paris, Milan and Barcelona. He cultivated various genres. He died in Barcelona on November 25, 1938.
